A Brief History of the Love-Less Ash Company
Love-Less Ash company was founded in July of 1988 in the rural coal-mining town of Price, Utah.
Mike Loveless invented the original Ash Vacuum in 1983 when his wife, Colleen, became fed up with the dust kicked up from their wood burning stove.
The Loveless's used their original Ash Vacuum for 5 years, fielding many inquiries about the vacuum from their family and friends, all of whom wanted one. Starting in their one-car garage, the Loveless's finally started manufacturing ash vacuums for the general public -- Mike handled all the research and development while Colleen handled things on the business side. The first product patent was awarded to Mike in 1989, the second in 1993, the third in 1997 and the fourth(!) in 1999.
Initially, the first Ash Vacuums produced were attachments to other vacuum cleaners. A fire retardant filter was utilized and the customer's residential vacuum cleaner was used as a secondary filter. People liked this setup, but there was confusion by some stove customers who couldn't get used to vacuuming their ash from their stove as this had never been done safely before. In 1990 the Love-Less Cheetah was the first motorized unit introduced onto the market. It has since been modified into the Love-Less Cheetah II, which has become the standard for ease and convenience in the fireplace and stove vacuum market. In 1999, Love-Less Ash introduced the Cougar ash vacuum. This popular model is a quieter version of the Cheetah II ash vacuum.
After 4 years of R&D, Love-Less Ash expanded their product line in 1997 by introducing a 16 gallon "dustless" wet/dry & drywall vacuum. These vacuums are superb at handling very fine dust from sheet rock and concrete sanding. In addition, the user can change from dry to wet and back to dry vacuuming without changing the filters, all the while maintaining great suction. Model 16002 was introduced in 1988 and the "quiet" model 16004 QV was brought to the market in 1999.
Love-Less Ash introduced a Turbo Drywall Sander in 2000 after 3 years of research and development. This revolutionary sander is powered by the suction of the 16002 or 16004 QV vacuums. Its vibrating head sands the drywall, while the vacuum sucks up the dust through the tube handle. This product is going a long way toward making what was traditionally a very dusty job nearly dust free.
As Love-Less Ash has grown, so has its manufacturing requirements. The company grew out of the Loveless's garage, then out of their second manfuacturing shop, and are now located in a beautiful manufacturing facility in Price, Utah.
